Zombie Popepocalypse!
Maddie Stone wrote a great post for Gizmodo yesterday on the City of Philadelphia’s preparation for the Pope’s visit to Philly. While not quite the rant like my post a couple of days ago, she expressed a number of the same concerns, comparing the plans to the movie 28 Days Later where officials quarantine the population to prevent a zombie contagion (you can read her full post here: Philly’s Preparations for Pope Francis are Like a Dry Run for the Apocalypse).
I Want My City Back–Update
Went to out to dinner tonight–no problem getting a reservation on OpenTable. Unfortunately, the restaurant was only about 1/3 full. It would normally be jammed on a Friday night, especially on a mild September weekend when vacations are over and all of the college students are back in the city. Plenty of parking spaces available on the street, further proof that many people had left town and that people who would normally come in from the suburbs to the bars, restaurants and clubs were staying home (and apparently the supposed 30,000 people attending the World Meeting of Families were not replacing them). It was eerie, no traffic and few people out on the streets (except for the National Guardsmen on every corner). It was reminiscent of a blizzard when everything shuts down.
I Want My City Back
The City of Philadelphia and the Secret Service have imposed draconian vehicle restrictions on the residents of Philadelphia in preparation for Pope Francis’ visit:
We Are Up and Running
This has been way harder than I ever thought it would (or should) be. It has inspired me to work on some tutorials for WordPress to help others find some basic stuff more easily.
Anyway, we’ve got the site pretty much the way we want it, at least initially. The Galleries and Nameplate sections still aren’t working quite to our satisfaction, but we will have them operating in good order shortly. As for the typography…that is a whole ‘nother story. Maybe I am too obsessive, but we will get the typography just the way we want it over time.
So, now on to the funstuff…posting! We are going to keep improving the site so stay with us and we hope you will come back often as we expand our content. We are going to start by publishing some tutorial that we have built over the past few years, so stay tuned.

We Are Getting Ready To Strut Our Stuff!
- Getting Ready to Strut
- Strutting Down Broad Street
Welcome to Pinch-To-Zoom. As the title suggests, this is mostly a blog about photography and technology (mostly all things Apple), with occasional forays into business and management, politics, Philly and queer topics (right now, mostly marriage equality and equal rights) along with an occasional rant. We are working on getting the layout correct before posting too much (for fear of losing content whilst updating the design), so check back soon for our hard launch.
